Jammu girls shine with overall trophies in athletics

JAMMU, Nov 6: Jammu girls today clinched overall trophies in all age groups of under-14, under-17 and under-19 in the inter-district division level athletics meet, which was organised as part of the annual calendar of activities by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at University of Jammu grounds, here today.

In the final and prize distribution function, Director Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies.

Students of M H A C School Nagbani won 5 gold, 11 silver & 4 bronze medal total 20 medals in Sahodaya Athletic Meet U-17 Boys & Girls held at Sanik School Nagrota .All Sahodaya Vidyalaya affiliated schools from Jammu Dist. participated . Sakshi Koul of our school declared the Best Athlete in girls category .She won 2 gold & 2 silver medals.

Earlier, District Officer, Tirath Ram welcomed the distinguished guests and presented a brief note of the activities. Vote of thanks was presented by Sunita Goel.

Also present were Romesh Chander Sharma, Kanchan Bala, Pushpa Sharma, Manorma Sharma, Sarita Pandha, Kiran Jyoti, Sher Singh, Rakesh Kakkar, Jaswant Singh, Ajit Singh, Tilak Raj and Rattan Lal.

The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of Deputy Director DYSS, Ashok Kumar.

UNDER-14 yr: High Jump: Madhu Bala, Kathua, Ist; Begum, Samba, 2nd and Rajni Devi, Jammu, 3rd. 200 mts: Mamta Devi, Jammu, Ist; Jasmeen Akhter, Samba, 2nd and Pavneet Kour, Udhampur, 3rd.

UNDER-17 yr: High Jump: Rajni Sharma, Samba, Ist; Poonam Sharma, Udhampur, 2nd and Niharika Dubey, Jammu, 3rd.

200 mts: Jaswinder Kour, Jammu, Ist; Sultana Kouser, Reasi, 2nd and Shallo Bibi, Kathua, 3rd.

UNDER-19 yr: High Jump: Prinka Sumbria, Samba, Ist; Rekha, Kathua, 2nd; Radha Kumari, Udhampur, 3rd. 200 mts: Reetika Bhardwaj, Jammu, Ist; Mamta Devi, Reasi, 2nd and Sonam Kinzone, Kishtwar, 3rd.
