SRINAGAR, July 14: Finally , Jammu and Kashmir may get back the possession of some valued immovable properties in outside states, currently under possession of the Union Government Ministries.
Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand told that Home Minister P Chidambaram assured him that he would ask the authorities in Union Ministry of Labour and Employment to hand over J&K its property in Chandigarh including a commercial building. The building is presently on lease to the Union Ministry.
He said the assurance was given by Union Home minister Chidambaram during the meeting of the North Zone Consultative Committee held in Chandigarh recently. The meeting was chaired by Chidambaram, who is chairman of the Committee, and attended by the Chief Ministers of different states including Punjab, New Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan. Tara Chand represented J&K on behalf of the state Chief Minister who had a meeting with Planning Commission.
“The Labor Department was asked to shift its office from the building. We will soon get the possession of the property,” said Chand.

Tara Chand said the Home Minister assured him that he would separately take up the matter with the Punjab Government.
The Minister said he also impressed upon the Home Minister that Government of India should support state government to start helicopter service to far-flung areas which remain cut off from rest of the state during winter and bad weather conditions. “The Home Minister assured me of rendering all possible help in this regard,” Tara Chand said.
