Zaira’s mother didn’t want registration of complaint, Vistara tells DGCA

MUMBAI, Dec 14 (Agencies): A Mumbai court today sent the accused in Zaira Wasim molestation case to judicial custody till December 22, reports said.
According to the reports, Vikas Sachdev was produced before the Dindoshi court in suburban Malad after his two-day police custody ended. The police sought his further custody, saying that the statements of passengers and the victim were yet to be recorded.
However, Sachdev’s lawyer Harvinder Singh Anand opposed extension of his client’s police custody saying he cooperated with the police in the investigation and that there was no evidence that he tried to hamper the probe.
After hearing the arguments, the court sent the accused to judicial custody till December 22.
The actor, during the flight, never complained about the alleged incident to the crew or filed any complaint upon landing at the airport, it contended, calling her allegations an afterthought.
Sachdev was arrested on Sunday for allegedly molesting the film actor on board a Delhi-Mumbai flight.
The 17-year-old actor, in an Instagram post, said the passenger sitting behind her was rubbing his foot against her back and neck while she was half-asleep.
In the meanwhile, Vistara has informed aviation regulator DGCA that Zaira Wasim’s mother did not want to register a complaint about the alleged molestation of the actor on-board its flight, an airline source said.
The airline has informed the watchdog about it in the final investigation report into the incident submitted earlier this week.
In its final report about the incident, the airline has said the actor’s mother did not want to register a complaint when she was asked by the airline crew, the source said.
According to the source, the airline is also evaluating the possibility of setting up an internal panel to look into various aspects related to unruly passenger behaviour as per guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
