J&K leaders file papers for Rahul

JAMMU, Dec 4: Senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir led by the state president G A Mir today filed nomination papers proposing the name of Rahul Gandhi for the election to the post of Congress president.
The top leaders of JKPCC including legislators and PCC functionaries led by president JKPCC G A Mir met the AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Congress headquarter New Delhi today and submitted two set of proposal each signed by ten PCC senior leaders (newly elected PCC delegates from J&K) proposing his name (Rahul Gandhi) as a candidate for the post of Congress president. Rahul Gandhi accepted the proposal, proposing his candidature and filed the nomination papers.
Later the leaders submitted the two set of nomination papers proposal to the Chairman Central Election Authority Mullappally Ramachandran MP.
Those who submitted the proposal included Tariq Hameed Qarra ex-MP, N Rigzin Jora CLP leader, Tara Chand ex-Deputy Chief Minister, P Namgial ex-MP, PCC vice-presidents G M Saroori MLA , Haji Abdul Rasheed MLA and G N Monga MLC, former ministers Taj Mohi-ud-din and M S Niaz, Deputy CLP Leader Aijaz Ahmed Khan, treasurer K K Amla, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, MLAs Vikar Rasool Wani and Asgar Ali Karblai, Balbir Singh MLC and state Mahila Congress president Indu Pawar.
Other signatories who too had signed nomination papers included former PCC presidents Prof Saifuddin Soz, Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed and senior vice-president PCC Sham Lal Sharma.
