National seminar inaugurated at Kishtwar campus
`Recent trends in IT and its applications…’
KISHTWAR, Nov 3: Department of Computer Science and IT Kishtwar campus University of Jammu organised two-day seminar on ”Recent trends in Information Technology and its applications in Industry”, which commenced today.

The inaugural function was presided over by Bhim Sen Tuti, SP Kishtwar who also inaugurated two-day national seminar.

Prof G M Bhat, who was the chief guest on the occasion, informed that Kishtwar campus is the only campus of the University where three science courses are being taught viz. M Sc IT, M Sc Geology (HSD) and PGDCA. He said that the campus developed a lot during last three months. “Today’s seminar will definitely be useful to the students as experts of international reputes will be delivering informative talks regarding IT,” he said. He hoped the seminar would be successful in the sense that it was being organized in the area which produced towering poets, intellectuals and writers in the past. He offered his full support to Kishtwar campus for organizing such types of activities in the future.

Dr. Lalitsen Sharma, the guest of honour of the function while speaking on the occasion congratulated the Kishtwar campus for organizing a seminar in a remote area for the benefit of the students of the campus. He in detail threw light on the importance of various information and communication technologies and described the subject as most important in the day to day life of the individual. He said that without information technology the world was nothing and stressed the students to come forward in the field which has a lot of scope.

In his presidential address SP Kishtwar spoke about the importance of Information Technology. He said that it revolutionized the world therefore there were lot of job opportunities for the new comers.

Earlier in his welcome address, Director Kishtwar Campus Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik thanked all guests and staff for attending the Inaugural function of the seminar. He threw light on the aims and objectives of the seminar and hoped that students would be benefited by the research papers of the experts who had come from different parts of the country. He lauded the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor of the Jammu University Prof MP Singh Isher who inspired him to organize a seminar on vital issue at Kishtwar campus. He further informed that on November 11, 2012 another national seminar on the topic `Urdu in J&K: problems and solutions” would be organized in the Kishtwar campus in which luminaries of Urdu will present their papers on the theme.

On this occasion the mementoes was presented to dignitaries by the Director Kishtwar Campus Prof Malik.

Prominent resource persons, who are attending two day national seminar included. Dr Vishal Goyal from University of Patiala, Dr Chanderkant Verma from Kurukshetra University Haryana, Dr Lalitsen Sharma and Dr Shubhnandan Singh Jamwal from Jammu University, Dr Manish Jindal, Punjab University Chandigarh, Dr Manu Yadev, Galgotia University UP and Rohit Gupta, Assistant Professor from Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu.

The proceedings of the inaugural function were conducted by Naseer-ul-Haq while vote of thanks was presented by Mubashir Hussain Liaison officer. Introductory note about the seminar was read by Ritu Singh Parihar, Incharge IT and organizing secretary.
