Check disaster fund collections

Dear Editor
Post the Uttarakhand disaster, many NGOs and local clubs have come up for collecting funds for the victims. It’s a matter of pride for us as humans as it adds a lot to humanity in us, but at the same time it is being used as a medium to mint money in the name of humanity. Leaving aside the people who are faithful to their duties and responsibilities of devoting each penny of their collection to the needy, the people who amass this money in greed are the ones who actually are the biggest threat to humanity. Government should keep a keen watch to avoid such deeds. Fund collecting bodies should be authorised and authenticated by government to ensure that people are contributing for a just cause.
