NaMo effect on Omar?

KISHTWAR, Jun 25: Perhaps it was NaMo effect dominating the political scene ahead of parliamentary elections across the country which made even the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today apprehensive about the
change of guard at the Centre.
Interestingly Omar’s apprehension found an expression when he was advocating the return of Dulhasti power project to J&K while addressing the public rally at Chowgan Ground of Kishtwar where the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson laid the foundation stone of Ratle Hydro Electric Project.
Donning the role of a `proficient lawyer’, Omar was effusive in heaping praises on the Prime Minister and UPA Chairperson (the latter in particular).
Suddenly the Chief Minister apprehended, “Hum Baar Baar Mangatay Hain Aap Say Aur Aap Ka Dil Itna Bada Hai Kay Aap Detay Ho… Sonia Gandhiji Ki Madad Say Hamein Sab Kuchh Mil Jata Hai Lekin Khuda Na Khaasta Aisa
Din Aa Jaye Jab Kay Dilli Mein Aisi Hukumat Ho Jo Riyasat Kay Liye Dostana Rishta Apnaana Na Chahey, Jo Iss Riyasat Ko Tang Karna Chahe Hamare Saarey Kaam Ruk Jaayengay…(Every time we go to the Centre with demands of financial assistance….you generously grant whatever is asked for…..We get everything with the support of Sonia Gandhiji…. But God forbid, if a day comes, when at the helm of affairs in the Centre is a ruling dispensation which may not be friendly to the state of J&K…which may create troubles for the state, all our projects would be stalled given our heavy dependence on the Centre for financial aid..).”
He stated that to end heavy dependence on the Centre for its financial needs and improve its economic condition and achieve economic self-reliance, there was only one way out and that was to fully harness hydroelectric potential of J&K rivers.
“So that we would not only meet the needs of people of J&K but would also sell power to other states and countries to earn a major source of revenue for us…..In this connection I would reiterate our demand
for return of Dulhasti Hydro power project,” Omar stated.
Another interesting feature of 11-minute address of the Chief Minister was his flow while making an extempore speech, a feat which to some extent was matched only the Union Minister for Health Ghulam Nabi Azad. No wonder, Omar was able to project many crucial demands in his short speech.
Earlier at the very outset, Omar in his address, while paying tributes to the army jawans, who lost their lives in yesterday’s fidayeen encounter in the Valley, said, “Allah Karey Iss Tarah Kay Din Hamein Kam Dekhanay Ko Milen. However these incidents remind us that we’ve achieved a great success in containing violence and restoring peace but still there is a long way to go as there are certain forces amongst us which are inimical to peace. They never want peace and brotherhood in the state and use every opportunity to exploit to take
this state back to the path of devastation. It should be our joint endeavour to take on and end those forces.”
