RAJOURI, Oct 16: Close on the heels of exposure of "Scholarship Scam", inquiry of which is still going, another scam i.e. "Security Refund Scam" surfaced in Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU).
After some complaints by pass out students of the university, that they get Rs 4500 back in their accounts which they submitted at the time of admission, KTNS researched and worked on the matter. A cheque of J&K Bank was found, having cheque number 36326 dated January 28, 2014 and Account number CD02 amounting to Rs 3,46,377. In lieu of that some amount has also been deposited in the accounts bearing numbers 2924, 2060, 2235, 2708, 3594, 3864, 3899, 3878, 4491, 4195 as security refund and many others which are yet to be discovered. On inquiring, none of the accounts were found to be of the students.
Talking to KTNS VC BGSBU said, "If any employee from the University administration has anything to do or is related by any means with this scam, he/she will not be spared and strict actions will be taken against him/her."
SSP Rajouri Yougal Manhas when contacted said, "A preliminary inquiring will be held soon on the ongoing matter.”
Back in 2005, when the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University was opened, there was a hope for the progress of this district. As this district has been away from development but everybody felt that this University will contribute to progress of the city. But some vested interests only filled their pockets and made their personal benefits leading into huge loss this university. Few years back, ‘scholarship scam’ was exposed in which the then Vice Chancellor and Registrar were involved. As a fall out of that scam, then Registrar had to give up his position and police is still investigating the scam.
