Contractors demand release of pending dues

JAMMU, June 25: Government contractors and workshop holders working with PHE Mechanical, Mechanical Irrigation Division, RTIC and TWID of Jammu province have made appeal government for release of their dues which have piled up due to non payment for a long time.
In a statement issued here today, These aggrieved contractors and workshop owners have rued that despite the fact that they have rendered emergency services to the department in the larger interest of the public and the department, their payments have been withheld due to lackadaisical attitude of the officers, who have not responded to the repeated requests for release of payments.
"The long pending payments have accumulated to alarming levels and the contractors/workshop owners are finding it difficult to manage their businesses on day to day basis" said a contractor who claims payments to the tune of 2 crores. These contractors have urged the officers and engineers of the concerned department to appreciate that they have executed emergency works for them even during odd hours and release their payments at the earliest, failing which they shall be constrained to refuse any work from the concerned departments in future.
