Doctors say it is case of anxiety, hysteria: Police

SRINAGAR, Oct 7: Police today said that the alleged braid chopping attempt in Ganderbal as per medical report turned out to be a case of anxiety and hysteria.
Giving details, a police spokesman said today at 3 PM police station Ganderbal received an information that one woman Bokthee (aged about 50 years) wife of Abdul Karim Dar resident of Check Duderhama was brought to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Ganderbal by her family members alleging braid chopping attempt by some unknown person.
“Upon this, the Ganderbal police swung into action, rushed to the spot and started verification of the incident. However, after thorough verification it came to surface that the incident is a clear case of hysteria and result of fear psychosis,” he said.
The spokesman added that as per doctors of SDH Ganderbal there were no signs of hair chopping, no signs of any chemical spray or any kind of anesthesia material upon body/face of woman and no injury on body however it was a case of anxiety or hysteria.
“As per the statement of woman, there was no attempt of braid chopping. It just happened that while she was working in field, she saw some unknown person passing through the field, from some 20 to 25 meters away from her upon which she made a hue and cry for help and ran towards nearby house of her brother with the illusion that the unknown person might be a braid chopper. The woman was not chased by the unknown suspect at all. The hue and cry due to fear psychosis created a chaos and confusion among the nearby people. The woman was later discharged from SDH Ganderbal to her home,” the spokesman said.
