JAMMU, Jun 24: Slamming the state government for making false claims about their resolve to empower Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state, All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC), today condemned the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Rural Development Minister Ali Mohammad Sagar for ignoring the brave lady Panch of Kashmir who was brutally attacked by militants in January this year at her village Hardshiva, Sopore in district Baramulla.
AJKPC General Secretary Anil Sharma said that during their Kashmir tour alongwith Kashmir Provincial President Imtiyaz Afzal Beig and other members visited the SKIMS hospital, Srinagar and met the brave Zona Begum who is a Panch from village Hardshiva.  He informed that the female Panch has lost her right eye because of bullet, as she was shot from a point blank range.
“Though the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Ali Mohammad Sagar, the state Panchayati Raj Minister had promised the injured Panch and her family to provide free treatment Zona Begum but her husband Mohammad Ramzan said that till date the state government has not provided them even a single tablet.”
Anil said, “On behalf of family members, the Conference also conveyed their appeal to Union Government for help as the state government has totally failed to give them any sort of relief.
Imtiyaz Afzal Beig appealed to the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to intervene in the matter and requested them to provide Zona Begum best possible treatment so that she gains her lost eyesight of right eye as the state government is never sincere towards the plight of Panchayat representatives and has left them at the mercy of terrorists.
