DC declares open state level cricket tourney

ANANTNAG, Sep 21: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik on Thursday kick-started Under-17 and Under-19 Boys state-level Inter-Division Cricket Tournament at Government Higher Secondary School (Boys), Bijbehara.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Commissioner said that the purpose of organizing such events is to nourish the sports talent and development of team spirit among the youth. He said that the youth of the state have an immense potential to excel in this field.
The DDC lauded the efforts of the District Youth Services and Sports Department for holding such events in the district and assured every possible help for the promotion of sports at the grass root level.
Pertinent to mention that the cricket tournament is played at the inter-division level as the players in the teams have got selected after playing at district and division level. The cricket tournament shall be played at Under-17 and Under-19 levels of Jammu and Kashmir divisions which shall culminate on 23rd of September, 2017.
The other officers present on the occasion were SDM Bijbehara, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir, Principal GHSS Bijbehara, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Anantnag, Principal DIET Anantnag, Zonal Physical Education Officers, Physical Education Lecturers, and Masters.
