Uttrakhand like calamity awaiting Rajouri
Tazeem Malik
RAJOURI, June 24: Natural calamity struck Uttrakhand state where thousands of people lost their lives and thousands others are still not found. Similar calamity may strike Bela Colony area in the heart of Rajouri.

Hundreds of houses built on the bank of local river flowing in the city may become the victim of flash flood during heavy rains. Rainy season is yet to arrive and the families living in the houses on the bank of rivers are totally unaware about this that sudden rise of water level in the river may wash their houses along with mighty river.

District administration has not taken any steps to aware the inhabitants to shift somewhere else neither Municipal Committee was concerned to issue them NOC for construction of the houses. Municipal committee is responsible for providing NOC to construction of house under norms and rules, but in this case it looks as if the owners have not consulted any MC authority before constructing house. Otherwise they would not have constructed their houses on the extreme bank of mighty river.

During rains, river flows in full might and if it rains heavily river becomes devastating agency and may have the potential to wash hundreds of houses.
