Akshat brings laurels to Jammu by winning gold medal

JAMMU, Sep 16: Akshat Gupta-grandson of Balraj Gupta has brought laurels for Jammu Division especially for Gandhinagar Constituency by winning Gold Medal in a Division Level Inter-District Fencing Tournament in the age groups of Under-14, 17 and 19 years for boys and girls.
Akshat Gupta- 8th Standard student resident of Gandhi Nagar is presently studying in K C Public School who has participated in tournament wherein around 183 boys and girls Fencers drawn from different districts of Jammu Division participated in the tournament being played at Reasi.
The tournament was inaugurated on September 15 at Garden Estate Hall wherein Babu Ram, Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi was the chief guest and Bishan Singh, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Reasi was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Dr Swaran Singh Chib, District Youth Services & Sports Officer Reasi and Organizing Secretary of the tournament revealed that on the first day of the tournament, Akshat of Jammu won gold, while in Under-17 Sabre boys, the gold medal went to Mayank of Jammu Under-14 Foil boys.
“In Under-14 Epee girls, Raghi of Jammu bagged gold, while in Under-14 Foil girls, Riya of Jammu clinched gold and in Under-14 Sabre girls, Sherya of Jammu claimed gold,” he added.
