Restrictions in areas of Old Srinagar, shutdown in Budgam

SRINAGAR, Sep 8: Authorities today imposed in several parts of old city of Srinagar to prevent protests after Friday prayers against the killing of Rohingya Muslims, while a shutdown was observed in Budgam against NIA raid on the residence of prominent Shia and Hurriyat Conference leader Syed Aga Hassan.
Officials said the restrictions were imposed in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of five police stations in old city. Because of the restrictions congregational Friday prayers could not be offered in historic Jamia Masjid.
The roads in the restrictions bound areas were sealed by police and security forces to prevent movement of people and vehicles.
The call for the protests was given by separatists and religious scholars.
Normal life was disrupted in Budgam district after people observed a shutdown against NIA raid at the residence of r Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi.
Reports said shops and business establishments remained shut while transport remained off the roads.
Besides, the main town of Budgam, shutdown was also observed in other parts of the district.
In Hasanabad Srinagar, a protest was held against the NIA raid on the residence of Aga Syed Hasan.
Pertinently, the house of Hurriyat G leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi, who is also the head of religious organization, Anjuman Shari Shian was raided by National Investigation Agency on Thursday morning while hundreds of his supporters had marched to his residence in Budgam amid slogans late Thursday and forced the sleuths of National Investigation Agency to leave from his residence.
