Shutdown in Chenab Valley, Surankote: rotests against Rohingyas’ killings

JAMMU, Sep 8: A complete shutdown was observed in Banihal and Kheri area of Ramban, Kishtwar and Surankote against genocide of Muslims in Rohingya while Chenab Group of Civil Society Doda held a protest demonstration against the brutal killings of Burma Muslims.
Similar protests were also held in Jammu and Surankote areas of Poonch district.
Reports from Banihal said that in many areas of Ramban district, a number of protest rallies were carried out by public in which hundreds of people take part. The protesters shouted slogans against genocide of Muslims in Rohingya Myanmar.
Reports said that all shops and other business establishments of Banihal and Kheri tehsils of district Ramban remain closed on Friday against genocide of Muslim in Myanmar administrated Rohingya. Due to shutdown normal life was paralysed in both tehsils of Ramban district. Local transport also remains off from the roads.
After Friday prayers people carried out a number of peaceful rallies at many place including Batote, Gool, Kheri, Tethar and Banihal town. Hundreds protesters take part in protest rallies. People also shouted slogans in favour of Myanmar Muslims.
Heavy deployment of troops was deployed by the administration in Banihal town to avert any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Bar Association Banihal observed pen down strike and condemned the killings of Rohingya Muslims. General Secretary Bar Banihal Khurshid Wani welcomed statement of Parshant Bushan on Rohingya Muslims.
Reports from Kishtwar said that the majority of towns in Chenab valley including Kishtwar observed complete shutdown over the call given by Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar.
All the schools, shops and other businesses establishment remain close in solidarity with Myanmar Muslims. Majority of the public as well as private transport also remain off the road throughout day today.
Hundreds of people on Friday held a strong protest in Kishtwar district of J&K against the killings of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. After Friday Prayer, hundreds of people including children assembled at Bus Stand Kishtwar and held anti-Myanmar demonstrations seeking justice for Muslims who are facing persecution by Myanmar military. The protestors belong to different section of the society led by Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo condemned the killing of innocent civilians, children and women by Myanmar military.
Addressing the protestors, the speakers questioned the silence of world community over the killings of innocent Muslims in Myanmar where the Muslim children and women were being slaughtered like animals and thousands of women were raped, the children and even old people are being burnt alive. They criticised the silence of International Community over the slaughter of Muslims in Myanmar.
The protesters at many places also shouted slogans in favour of Turkish government which recently has shown concern over the persecution of minorities in Myanmar and ask the Nations including Saudi Arabia to take the lead in putting the pressure on Myanmar government to stop the genocide of Rohingya Muslims in the country.
Report from Doda said that Chenab Group of Civil Society Doda held a protest demonstration against the brutal killings of Rohingya Muslims. The protest was held at old Bus Stand Doda in which people belonging to different organization media persons and members of civil Society condemned the inhuman act by the Burma's Army. The protester took out procession which passed through different bazaars of Doda and culminated at Old Bus Stand Doda.
Speaking to huge gathering, the members appealed to Amnesty International ASIA Watch and other Human Right Organization to pressurize Burma government to stop the killing and genocide besides migration of Rohingya Muslims. They urged to send their representative to assess the ground level situation in the Burma and appeal World Community to take immediate step for remedial measures otherwise situation will take bad to worst day by day. Members also appealed the government of India's to influence the Burma government for stopping the killing of Burma Muslims and end of the Human violation and rehabilitate all Rohingya Muslim minorities which are already migrants in different countries and all human rights be given to them at par with other citizens of Burma.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Advocate Imitiaz Ahmed Mir, Nasser Ahmed Khora, Abdul Qayoom Zargar, Abdul Manan Banday, Ishtiaq Ahmed Dev, Shakeel Ahmed Dev, Zafferullah Mangnoo, Haji Mumtaz-ul-Rehman Gattu and Mehboob Ahmed Tak.
In Jammu, similar protest was held at CPO Chowk where after Friday prayers hundreds of Muslims staged protest against killing of Burma Muslims.
Reports from Surankote said that a complete Bandh was observed in Surankote town on the call given by Bar Association Surankote. All political parties also supported the bandh call and a peaceful protest was held in the town after Friday prayers.
The protestors raised slogans against the killing of Rohingya Muslims and urged the United Nations to intervene in stopping brutalities in Myanmar and also condemned the killing of innocent civilians, children and women by Myanmar military. They urged upon Indian government to break ties with the Myanmar for the atrocities.
