KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Sep 7: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today carried out searches at 10 places in Jammu and Kashmir and the National Capital Region (NCR) in connection with its probe into alleged funding of terror and subversive activities in the Kashmir valley and seized three arms from a close aide of separatist Shabir Shah in Jammu.

Reports from Srinagar said that National Investigation Agency (NIA) continued its raids in a case related to alleged funding in Kashmir valley for the second consecutive day today. The house and office of senior separatist leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi, who also heads socio-religious organization Anjuman Shari Shian were raided in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district early this morning.

NIA team accompanied by a police party entered into the house of Aga Hasan and conducted a search operation there. NIA team also raided the residence of Zameer Ahmad Sheikh at Gulshan Nagar Nowgam, Srinagar. Zameer is a member of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP). NIA also raided residences of several separatist leaders including Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Shakeel Bakhshi and Showkat Bakhshi.

The fresh NIA raids in Kashmir followed the announcement of resistance leaders to court arrest at NIA headquarters in New Delhi on September 9.

Reports said that a raid was conducted by NIA team at the residence of JKLF leader Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and his brother Shakeel Ahmad Bakhshi in Bemina area of Srinagar. Shakeel heads the Islamic Student’s League (ISL).

Earlier in the day, NIA teams raided the residences of Hurriyat (G) leaders, Ghulam Nabi Sumji in Bijbehara and Syed Agha Hassan in Budgam. Sources said that a team of NIA alongwith a contingent of police and other forces raided the residence of Sumji and started searches.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) also raided the office of a chartered accountant at Hyderpora in Srinagar and residences of two businessmen in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, sources said.

They said that teams of NIA raided Al-Hyder Complex at Hyderpora and two residential houses in Kralepora area of North Kashmir.

Seven separatist leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist have already been arrested by the investigation agency in connection of the case.

Another Hurriyat leader and a businessman have been arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED). Eight of the arrested persons are languishing in Tihar jail, Delhi while as four are in NIA and ED custody.

In Jammu, NIA raids were conducted in a house of a property dealer Mohammad Razak Choudhary alias Ashoka, son of Haji Ahmed Din, resident of Gurah Brahmana, Bantalab Jammu, a close aide of separatist Shabir Shah. Elder daughter of Chaudhary Razak is studying her MBBS in Pakistan. NIA sleuths seized three arms--a pistol, a double-barrel gun and a .315 bore rifle from there, officials said.

Razak has claimed the arms were licensed but has not been able to provide any documents so far.

“The house was cordoned by the CRPF men and the NIA team later raided the house,” they said.

Among those raided were the chartered accountants of businessman Zahoor Watali in Delhi and Gurgaon.
