Omar, Mehbooba, Soz condemn cops’ killings

SRINAGAR, June 22: Chief minister Omar Abdullah, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and PCC chief Prof Saif-u-Din Soz have condemned the killing of two policemen at Hari Singh High Street here today.
Omar has described it as an act of barbaric and cowardice. In his message to the bereaved families and police, the chief minister expressed his solidarity with them and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
“Chief minister lauded J&K Police force for their bravery and extra-ordinary dedication towards the duty and said that the men in uniform have always rendered valuable service and sacrifice their lives for the safety and protection of the people,” an official spokesman said.
Mehbooba expressed deep shock over the incident. She said violence in any form would not solve any problem. PDP president expressed concern over the sharp increase in such targeted attacks on police and regretted that the present dispensation has totally failed to protect the human lives.
She expressed her solidarity with the families of two slain cops.
Soz has also condemned the incident and described it as barbaric and inhuman.
