BJP-PDP completely lost trust of people

JAMMU, Aug 13: Provincial President of Women Wing of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Satwant Kaur Dogra said that National Conference will fight tooth & nail to safeguard the special status of J&K and warned BJP-PDP against trampling with State Subject Laws.
She said that farsightedness shown by the Maharaja Hari Singh over nine decades ago is now being negated and exploited by the BJP, in its mistaken pursuit of ultra-nationalism.
She cautioned people against conspiracy being hatched by BJP in connivance with PDP to dilute State Subject laws in a clandestine manner and covert operations to weaken special status of the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.’
Addressing a women convention at Udhampur, Satwant said that BJP has unleashed a sinister and motivated disinformation campaign, especially in the Jammu region, to hoodwink public opinion by creating an impression that doing away with the State Subject laws will benefit the Dogras but the fact is that the Dogras will, on the contrary, be hurt the most.
She said by virtue of the State Subject laws the people of the State, irrespective of caste, creed and colour are having the comfort of roofs over their heads and jobs for unemployed youth. Once article 35 A is repealed, the opportunities for the state subjects will end permanently. The youth of J&K will have to compete with outsiders for jobs and medical college seats whereas the Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribes of other states will take over the reservation benefits from SC-ST of Jammu besides the business opportunities in Jammu & Ladakh would also be taken over by affluent sections of non state subjects of neighbouring states.
She said that PDP-BJP government has completely lost the trust of the people as they failed to address the political and developmental aspirations of the people of J&K and exhorted the women cadre to gear up for meeting the challenges of fast changing political scenario in State.
Satwant Kaur said that the present government has failed on all fronts and both BJP and PDP have made a complete U-turn on their propagated policies and ideologies for the sake of sharing power which has exposed the double standards of two parties.
She alleged that trust deficit between coalition partners due to their ideological differences is showing negative impact on governance and public delivery. The fact remains that developmental activities are almost invisible and no concrete measures are being taken to address the issues of livelihood. The function was organised by District President of Women Wing Smt. Rama Gupta.
Speaking on the District President of National Conference Sunil Verma said that abrogation of Article 35 A will open the flood gates of poverty and unemployment here and Jammu will lose its hundreds of years old Dogra culture and identity and added that National Conference will not allow it to happen as it will mean trampling of the constitutional guarantee held out to the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
District President of Women Wing Rama Gupta exhorted women to come forward and participate in democratic process in a big way. She exuded confidence that women workers and office bearers of National Conference will meet the challenges confronted to the party and steer it to the new heights.
Those who spoke on the occasion included Ram Parshottam Sharma, Geeta Handoo, Srishta Devi Sarpanch Adv. Bharat Bhushan, Jagdish Bhardwaj, Govind Ram Sharma, Lal Chand Musafir, John Wilson, Gurbachan, Ram Badyal, Rajesh Verma, K.K.Raina, Govind Ram Chalotra, Prem Ram, Roshan Din, Vijay Khajuria, Piyari Devi, Bimla Devi, Raj Rani, Diksha Kalra, Anju Grover and Lata Sharma.
