JAMMU, Aug 8: Vigilance Organization Kashmir (VOK) claimed to have registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against the then Deputy Commissioner Budgam and others for illegal appointment as Junior Assistant against available post in Education department under SRO 43.
Official reports said that VOK has registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act on outcome of verification into the allegations of illegal appointment of Mohammad Iqbal Wani son of Rehim Wani of Lalpora, Beerwah Budgam Junior Assistant against available post in Education department in the Pay Scale of 950-1500 under SRO 43.
During verification conducted by VOK, it was revealed that the then Deputy Commissioner Budgam has illegally issued appointment order under SRO-43 in favour of Mohammad Iqbal Wani son of Rehim Wani of Lalpora, Beerwah, Budgam. The verification conducted established that the reference to SRO 43 is illegal as compassionate appointment of a person can be done only in case of a person who is a family member of deceased as defined under Rule (2) of SRO 43. The Rule does not cover the beneficiary appointee Mohammad Iqbal Wani son of Rehim Wani of Lalpora, Beerwah, Budgam who had sustained injuries and the appointment as such is illegal.
Reports further said that by acting in this manner, erstwhile Deputy Commissioner Budgam and other concerned officials in connivance with each other and with beneficiary accused abused official position and illegally conferred undue pecuniary advantage upon the accused beneficiary.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 22 of 2017 under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P.C. Act, Svt., 2006 and 120-B RPC has been registered in Police Station VOK against the then Deputy Commissioner Budgam, the beneficiary Mohammad Iqbal Wani and others and investigation of the case has been taken up, reports maintained.
