NC reacts angrily to Fotedar’s remarks
KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, June 19: National Conference (NC) has reacted angrily to the statement of senior Congress leader Makhanlal Fotedar that autonomy is a closed chapter.

Senior NC leader Dr Mustafa Kamal has described Fotedar as the biggest enemy of Kashmiri people. “Fotedar is one among those people who are camping in New Delhi to hatch conspiracies against the majority community of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the bitter foe of the Muslims of the state. For last three decades he is lobbying against the Kashmiri people and he was part of the every conspiracy under which Kashmiri people were butchered and demonized,” Kamal told a local news agency, CNS.

He added that Fotedar hardly knows ABC of Kashmir.

“This man is responsible for the death and destruction in Valley and he never wants to see National Conference in the forefront. Makhan Lal Fotedar hatched conspiracy against National Conference in 1953, 1977 and 1984. He used different Indian agencies in 2008 and 2010 to cow down the people of Kashmir. This man kept NC out of power in 2002 as it was his idea to rig the election,” NC leader said.

Kamal said that autonomy is “our birth right and to divert the attention from the main issue Fotedar has come with a senseless theory that Indira-Abdullah accord was the end of the journey,” he said.

Kamal said that it is baseless that NC forgets autonomy after occupying the chair. “We have been raising the issue of autonomy every time but it is the central government which is not ready to yield. Our party has always been pushing for the autonomy of the state and it will now pursue the agenda vigorously,” he said.

Senior National Conference leader and Member Parliament Dr Mehboob Beg today said that Fotedar might be having a ‘hidden agenda’ in mind for his ongoing state tour. “Using party headquarters in Srinagar for praising PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and picking loop holes in Ghulam Nabi Azad’s work gives an impression that Fotedar might be working on a ‘secret agenda’ which could be aimed at benefiting a particular party at the cost of his own party,” he said.

“Autonomy is a constitutional document signed by the then Prime Minster and Congress stalwart Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. It is beyond my imagination that Fotedar has reservations on this document but keeps mum on PDP’s self rule document,” Beg said while talking to KNS.
