Nirmal calls on Rajnath, discusses cross border shelling

NEW DELHI, Jul 20: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh Thursday called on the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed various issues like cross border shelling, the steps being taken by the government for sustaining peace and the successful conduct of Amarnath yatra, refugee's issues and matters of internal security. He also asked for undertaking a special recruitment drive in central security forces for hilly and birder areas of the state.
Following this meeting, he participated in the review meeting conducted by the Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari to discuss the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway and the issues thereof.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief Ministers of Punjab and Haryana Captain Amrinder Singh and Manoharlal Khatter besides Dr Nirmal Singh who represented Jammu and Kashmir.
Gadkari asked the states to come up with a detailed reports regarding the issues like road alignment, land accusation cases and other related issues so that the work can be expedited on the prestigious project which would be coming up as alternate highway for connecting Delhi, Punjab, Haryana with Katra. It would also result in the sustained development of the areas besides increasing mobility and traffic regulation on this route, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion also called for speeding up the work on the prestigious expressway which would result in increasing the means of communication , better mobility and development of the areas through which it would pass.
