JAMMU, Jun 17: The Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has welcomed the decision of the Janata Dal (U) to break its 17-year old ties with the BJP.
As per a handout, the leaders said, “This is an important step following the elevation of Narendra Modi within the BJP and in the battle against the divisive communal forces of Hindutva. It is crystal clear that it is the RSS fatwas that now dictate every move and micro manages every step of the BJP. JD(U) should have taken this decision earlier, in the interest of secularism.” The leaders added that the party would also oppose the Bandh call of the BJP on June 18.
They further said, “The CPI member in the Assembly would vote in support of the JD (U) motion on June 19 as an endorsement of this action. This however does not mean any over-all support for the Nitish Kumar Government whose every action will be judged on its merits.”
