Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in Jammu region with religious fervour

JAMMU, Jun 26: Like other parts of the country and state, the Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in Jammu region with religious fervour and gaiety.
All the mosques in Jammu city were decorated magnificently and markets witnessed huge rush of people who were busy in purchasing sweets, gifts and clothes.
The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregational prayer in Jammu district was held at Eidgah, Residency Road, where thousands of devotees offered Namaz.
In his religious sermon, the Imam, who led the congregational prayers threw light on this sacred festival and said that the spirit behind observance of Eid-ul-Fitr is to express our thanks to almighty Allah for granting courage to observe fast in the month of Ramzan and rededicate ourselves to the path of truthfulness, sincerity, self-control, patience and human dignity.
On the occasion, MLA Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner, Dr M K Bhandari, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Dr S D Singh Jamwal, ADC Dr Arun Manhas, besides other senior functionaries of civil and police administration were also present and exchanged Eid greetings with Muslim brethren and prayed for peace and tranquility in the state.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the district administration for celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
Eid-ul-Fitr was also celebrated with same fervour and festivity in other nine districts of the region viz., Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, Reasi, Samba and Kathua.
