Benia lifts 6th Panya Kesari Dangal title 2017

JAMMU, June 26: Wrestler Benia Min of J&K Police lifted “6th Annual Panya Kesari Dangal Title 2017” by defeating Wrestler Ajay Gujjar Patha Guru Gurdev, Akhara Barn (Patila), resident of Gurgoan in the final first malli bout played at High School, Panya Dager in Akhnoor.
The first malli main bout Wrestlers Benia Min awarded with cash prize of Rs 35,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gadda), Patta of Panya kesari and Turban while runner-up Wrestler Ajay Gujjar got Rs 30,000.
Around 17 bouts were played in the Wrestling Competition. An amount of Rs 2, 25,000 has been incurred for conduct of this one day Dangal. Wrestler Dinu of Kathua was declared as Best Wrestler of the Dangal, he won two bouts. He was awarded with cash prize of Rs 5, 00.
Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma was the chief guest who witnessed the whole event and encouraged the youth to participate in these types of rural and hilly Sports and distributed cash prizes among the Wrestlers. Sharma is also Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Associate Vice-President Wrestling Federation of India and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum (Regd.) Katra.
Vice-President J&K Indian Style Wrestling, Social Worker and Wrestling Promoter Ram Paul Sharma presided over the function. General Secretary District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association Om Parkash Verma and Deep Raj were the guests of honour.
Meanwhile in the second bout, this was fought between Manna of Zirkapur, Chandigarh versus Nawaj Ali of Mallerkotla. This bout was won by Manna. He was awarded with cash prize of Rs 17,000 while runner-up Wrestler Nawaj Ali got Rs 14,000.
The third bout was won by Roshan Lal Sharma of J&K Police, resident of Muthi, Jammu who defeated Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi.
Chief Guest Shiv Kumar Sharma in his address said that Sports play vital role to keep mind and physique fit. He also said Sports also builds self-confidence and develops personality besides help in keeping youth away from social evils like drug abuse, smoking and drinking.
Interacting with the Wrestlers, Sharma said, “winning and losing are part of the game but we must learn Sportsmanship, Leadership, perseverance and resilience from the game which are bulwarks of a progressive Society.
Members & Technical officials who helped for conduct of this one day Wrestling event included Ram Paul Sharma (President), Deep Raj (Chairman), Bali Ram Sharma, Mulk Raj Sharma, Raju Sharma, Kamal Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Fozi), Pawan Dev Sharma, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Om Parkash Sharma, Om Parkash Verma, Mulk Sharma, Sunny (Airtel), Kulbir Singh, Mohd. Fareed, Murli Dhar (Munna), Kaka and Tulinder Kumar.
