MUMBAI, June 26: Sri Lanka's fast bowler Shaminda Eranga's bowling action will be tested in Chennai (India) on June 30.
According to the highly placed sources in Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board, the good news was first conveyed to the bowler by Simon Willis, the High Performance manager about a week ago and was asked to be readied any day after June 28 .
Shaminda was reported for his suspect bowling action immediately after the second Test against England in Chester-le-Street in May last year. The match was officiated by the on field Asian umpires- Aleem Dar (Pakistan) and S. Ravi (India), with Zimbabwe's Andy Pycroft as match-referee.
The news about his suspension (for bowling action) coincided with his sickness (elevated heartbeats) and hospitalization in Ireland.
Since then the bower worked hard with coaches like Chamila Gamage and Chaminda Vaas. "Shaminda Eranga is scheduled to practice with Vaas till the final day", the source close to the board, said exclusively to this Reporter.
"His new bowling action has also been examined by Champaka Ramanayake (fast bowling coach), who showed satisfaction and hoped for his clearance", the source further added.
The 31-year-old right arm fast bowler will be arriving in Chennai on 29th June and most probably will leave the next day immediately after the tests at Sri Ramachandra Sports Medicine Centre. He will be accompanied by Simon Willis. Vaas may not accompany him, it is also learnt here.
This has been Shaminda's fourth India trip, though earlier he had visited the country with the team.
