Mock drill conducted at Pahalgam to meet eventuality

SRINAGAR, Jun 25: A mock drill exercise on disaster management and mitigation in connection with Amarnath Yatra was conducted at Pahalgam today. The pilgrimage is starting from June 29:
An official spokesperson here today said the drill was conducted by the teams of Fire and Emergency Department, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) under the guideline of the National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi and State Disaster Management Authority, J&K.
”The mock drill, which was conducted at Nunwan base camp, covered activities like management of blast hitting a vehicle carrying yatris, landslides, militant attack, cloudbursts and other exercises,” he said. He said a three-day table-top mock drill exercise was conducted at Dak Bungalow, Anantnag from June 21 to June 23, to sensitise the officers and rescue and operation teams about the precautionary measures being taken for averting any natural disaster.

Mitra, Vohra discuss internal security, LoC situation

SRINAGAR, Jun 25: Rina Mitra, Special Secretary, Department of Internal Security, accompanied by Gyanesh Kumar, Joint Secretary (J&K), Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), met Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here.
The Governor discussed with Mitra a range of issues relating to effective maintenance of law and order and internal security and the safeguarding of IB, LoC and LAC; increasing attempts at infiltration and growing incidence of terrorism in the valley; continuing attacks on the state police personnel and the most worrying consequences flowing from the involvement of youth and students in agitational activities.
They also discussed the security arrangements for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2017 which is commencing on June 29, 2017.
