SRINAGAR, June 16: Chief minister Omar Abdullah today completely ruled out his party National Conference (NC) being part of NDA again in future since Narendra Modi has taken a lead rule in BJP.
Talking to media persons on the side lines of a function here, Omar justified NC’s association with NDA in the past. He said Atal Behari Vajpayee was the binding force for NDA when NC was part of it. “Now it is a totally different story. With Modi calling the shots now, some of the allies in NDA will be very uncomfortable. They will start leaving NDA. If that happens NDA will lose seats and BJP’s dream to form the government will get shattered,” Omar said.
Chief minister stated that JD(U) breaking away from NDA is the first indication about the trouble for BJP.
He claimed that his party is working for the restoration of autonomy which was eroded from time to time.
Reacting to a comment by Justice Tirath Singh Thakur during his speech in the academy auditorium that lawmakers also can be imparted training regarding law in the Judicial Academy Complex, Omar said time has come when politicians need to get training in law.
“I think time has come where we as representatives need to take formal training in law and use facilities like this to teach ourselves.” he said.
Referring to the fighting of legislators in assembly, Omar wished that they could also have a weapon like contempt of courts so that they did not throw mikes and cushions on each other.
“I wish I had a weapon like courts have, that is contempt of court to keep checks and balances,” he said.
