Punjab Wrestler Abdul Gani lifts Thial-Chougan Dangal Title

JAMMU, June 18: Abdul Gani of Mallerkotla of Punjab defeated Wrestler Binda Bishhanpuria of Kapurthala of Punjab in the 112nd Annual mega historic Dangal held at Govt. Middle School Sunal in Block Khoon, Tehsil Majalta and District Udhampur. Bout was played for 21 minutes.
Winner Wrestler Abdul Gani was awarded with cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with traditional Gurj (Gada) by chief Guest BJP Senior Leader Nand Kishore Sharma, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma & Krishan Kumar (President) Dangal Committee Thial Chougan while runner-up Wrestler Binda awarded with cash prize of Rs 25,000/- by Sunil Badyal, Tehsildar Ved Parkash and Kartar Chand (Secretary) Dangal Committee.
44 bouts were played in the one day long wrestling event and an expenditure of Rs 3, 00,000/- has been incurred for the conduct of this event. Dangal was organized by Thial Chougan Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, President Thial Chougan Dangal Committee Krishan Kumar and Kewal Kumar Sharma (Sonu), Vice-President of the Dangal Committee.
Senior BJP Leader Nand Kishore Sharma was the chief Guest who distributed cash prizes among the Wrestlers. Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council Shiv Kumar Sharma, who is also Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Associate Vice-President Wrestling Federation of India and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum (Regd.) Katra presided over the function.
SSP Udhampur Rayees Mohd. Bhat, Tehsildar Majalta Ved Parkash and President, District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association Sunil Badyal were the guests of honour. SHO Majalta Sajad Haider was also present on the occasion.
The second main bout was won by Kapil of Guru Hanuman Akhara Delhi who defeated Jagi of Kapurthalla. Winner Kapil was awarded with cash prize of Rs 15,000/- while runner-up Jagi awarded with cash prize of Rs 10,000/-.
3rd bout was played between Farooq of Sarore V/S Sachin of Delhi and another bout was played between Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu V/S Inder paul of Amritsar. Both the bouts ended in a draw that lasted for 20 minutes.
Members & Technical officials who helped for the conduct of this one day Wrestling event included Krishan Kumar (President), Kewal Kumar Sharma (Sonu) Vice-President, Kartar Chand (Secretary), Ravinder Gupta (Cashier), Sarpanch Kuldeep Singh, Bishan Dass (Mandal Pradhan), Rajinder Singh, Mohd. Fareed, Narinder Sharma, Om Parkash Verma and Lochan Singh.
In the end, President of Thial Chougan Dangal Committee Krishan Kumar presented vote of thanks.
