Workshop on ‘scale development and validation’ concludes

UDHAMPUR, June 16: The seven-day workshop on ‘Scale Development and Validation’, organised by the Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu concluded here today.

Prof RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu were the chief guests in the valedictory function while Saurabh Aggarwal associated with IBM SPSS and faculty of HBTI Kanpur was the guest of honour.

Congratulating the Udhampur Campus for organising the workshop, the Vice Chancellor said that research is nothing but a common sense and the need is just to apply it.

Prof Sharma said that research must be of high quality in order to produce results that can be applied in real life and for that developing a valid scale is very essential. The most important advice which he gave is to publish your research work before it perishes.

Prof Desh Bandhu Gupta encouraged the faculty members for organizing such programmes that would help in the growth and development of scholars as well as faculty members. He suggested to the participants that whatever has been learnt in the workshop must be applied immediately in the research work to become master of it.

Saurabh Aggarwal, associated with IBM SPSS and faculty of HBTI Kanpur, one of the resource persons also spoke on the occasion who advised to make use of only one software instead of multiple softwares and be proficient in that one .

In her welcome address, Prof Hardeep Chahal, Rector Udhmapur Campus, University of Jammu welcomed the chief guests and all the participants and briefly explained the proceedings of the seven day workshop. She also appreciated their efforts of practically applying the statistical techniques in the entire workshop.

Dr Neetu Kumari, Lecturer, Department of Commerce, Udhampur Campus elaborated upon the conduct of the programme by presenting a detailed report where in it was informed that in all 25 sessions were conducted spread over these 7 days.

Shankar MM, Dr Hamendera Dangi and Saurabh Aggarwal were the key resource persons for the workshop. In all there were 38 participants from different universities, departments and affiliated colleges.

Yasin arrested again, lodged in central jail
SRINAGAR, Jun 16: JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik along with a senior party member Ghulam Mohammad Dar was arrested by police today. Reports said that they were arrested when police raided JKLF office at Abi Guzar Srinagar just before Friday prayers. They were lodged in Kothibagh police station and later shifted to central jail Srinagar on judicial remand till June 19.
