Bhat seeks CM’s intervention to address financial woes of Handloom, Handicrafts Corps

SRINAGAR, Jun 16: Vice Chairman Handloom and Handicrafts Nizam-ud-Din Bhat today sought intervention of Chief Minister for redressal of financial woes dogging the two corporations of social and economic importance since long.

Bhat said not only the production and sales in the two sectors have taken a sip, but the very survival of these key sectors is in question. He said it will be worst for the state if handicraft and handloom suffers.

He demanded enhancement of budgetary support besides the normal support from The Aggregative Multi-sector Economic & Infrastructure Rebuilding (TAMIER) Plan 2015-2020 (TAMIER).

He said the employees of the two corporations who have struggled to sustain tradition and skills of significance are without salaries since months as floods and the unrest came as a setback to them as the status and financial health of the corporations witnessed a decline.

Bhat said two corporations can neither meet the capital for purchases nor can clear service liabilities accumulating due to adverse intervention.

He said these less important sectors have received incentives and support for are functioning and horticulture and handicraft is suffering dispute right pleas and legislative claims.

Bhat said the Minister Industries and Commerce as well as the Commissioner Secretary have already placed proposals for revival. “These need to be looked into and adopted at the earliest,” he demanded.

Yasin arrested again, lodged in central jail
SRINAGAR, Jun 16: JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik along with a senior party member Ghulam Mohammad Dar was arrested by police today. Reports said that they were arrested when police raided JKLF office at Abi Guzar Srinagar just before Friday prayers.
