Cop killed in Kulgam

SRINAGAR, Jun 15: Unidentified gunmen this evening killed a policeman at Bogund village of Kulgam idistrict.
Reports said that the gunmen opened fire at the cop Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar near his home. He sustained multiple injuries. The cop was removed to the hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The slain policeman is survived by his wife and 13 months old son. He had come home on leave.
Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that to pay homage to constable Shabir Ahmad, a wreath laying ceremony was held in L Kulgam. DIG South Kashmir S.P Pani led the police officers and jawans in laying floral wreaths on the mortal remains of the Dar. SSP Kulgam Shridhar Patil was also present during the ceremony.
“In the evening, some unknown militants fired upon constable Shabir Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehman resident of Bogund Kulgam near his home. He was shifted to the hospital for treatment where doctors declared him brought dead. A massive manhunt has been launched in the district to nab the culprits,” the spokesman added.
