Summoning Altaf to Delhi, NIA questioning sheer vengeance: Geelani
KT NEWS SERVICE
SRINAGAR, Jun 11: Strongly criticizing NIA for summoning Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Altaf Ahmad Shah to Delhi for interrogation, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G) today called it `sheer vengeance.’

He said Altaf Ahmad and other party activists are unnecessarily being harassed by NIA sleuths. “It is just a tool to dent leadership so that they surrender and stop voicing the sentiments of their nation,” Geelani said.

“For last 35 years Altaf Ahmad Shah is active in politics and his all activities are transparent and open,” said Geelani and added that, however, the policy makers in Delhi are intimidating political workers on one pretext or the other. “It is illogical and unjustified. NIA is being used as a war weapon against political workers. Since year 2002, fabricated cases are being filed against me, colleagues and my close relatives. However all these senseless efforts proved useless and futile,” Geelani said

Referring to NIA raids, he said all these state sponsored tactics and coercive measures would not “deter us from pursuing our mission, nor these coercions, suppressive and aggressive will deter us from pursuing our mission.”

He asked Indian authorities to shun `this uncivilized and egoistic approach.’ “Implicating political workers in fabricated cases will not help you nor we will surrender,” said Geelani and suggested Indian authorities to adopt a realistic approach and accept hard realities about Kashmir issue.
