North Campus, KU organises Intra-department Leather Ball cricket tourney

JAMMU, May 23: North Campus, University of Kashmir organised an intra-department leather ball cricket tournament 'Aaqib Memorial Champions Trophy 2017'.
The tournament inherited its name from one of the deceased student of the campus namely Aaqib Malik. Aaqib was a student of IMBA department of the North Campus. He laid down his life while saving his neighbours from fire.
The tournament started from May 3, 2017. All matches were played at University ground, Delina ghat,
Baramulla on cricket mat. A total of 12 teams participated in total including 2 staff teams. IT section of the campus introduced live scoring for the tournament. Detailed scoresheets can be viewed at
The final match was played between MCA and Btech 3rd Sem on May 20.
Prof (Dr)Mohammmad Ashraf Shah, Principal Degree college Baramulla was the chief guest on the occasion.
The final match was won by MCA department by 44 runs. Btech 3rd Sem won the toss and put in MCA to bat first who scored a total of 133 runs all out in 19.2 overs. In response, Btech 3rd Sem scored a total of 89 runs all out in 16.2 overs. Sajad Teli of MCA was adjudged as man of the match for his all-round performance of 26 runs with the bat and 3/15 with the ball.

Ovais of MCA was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament with 165 runs with the bat and 8 wickets in 4 matches.
