Irony of fate!

What else could the period through which we are passing be if not an irony of fate, especially since the last about two years. Intolerance was there before as well but it seems to have surpassed many folds. It is irony of fate that religions which never and don't teach hatred between various communities are blatantly being misread and deliberate efforts are made to spread the vires of communalism for narrow gains.
Secularism is apparently losing its meaning and is being treated an unworthy word in the present context. Nationalism and patriotism too are meaningless at the moment. If not an irony of fate then what is it that inspite of notable progress in various fields there is awful retrogression in tolerance? Casteism and communalism today have become the passwords for some miscreants who under the patronage of the rulers make all out efforts to showdown the other religious communities particularly the Muslims.
These so-called nationalists in their own wisdom, though they are the real hard-core anti-nationalis, are ruling the roost under the guidance of their mentors. So much so that even the administration and the police at many places are completely back them or lack the moral and legal courage to rein in such goons by taking action as required by law. It is an irony of fate that the present dispensation is succeeding in creating divisions amongst various sections of the people. It is unfortunate and a matter of concern for saner countrymen that in secular (wish it remains secular forever) India, caste equations and the divisions amongst various religions are on the increase. Persons at the helm of affairs under whose umbrella the concerned are taking the law under their own hand and who are supposed be the saviour of the whole nation (not only of Hindus) are looking at all these as a mere spectator. It is really an irony of fate.
