Cong enrolls 8.25 lakh members in J&K
‘4.75 lakh primary members in Jammu, 3.50 lakh in Kashmir’

JAMMU, May 17: Congress has enrolled 8.25 lakh primary members in Jammu and Kashmir which included 4.75 lakh primary members in Jammu province, 3.50 lakh in Kashmir province, this was stated by AICC observer and party PRO for Jammu and Kashmir Hussain Dalwai, MP Rajya Sabha while chairing a meeting here today.

The meeting at PCC headquarter Jammu was organized to review the organizational affairs and activities especially the ongoing membership drive of the party in the state.

PCC president G A Mir besides AROs of the AICC Deepak Rathore and Maqsood Mirza and senior functionaries of PCC, district presidents, contesting candidates and ex-legislators attended the meeting to review the progress of the membership of the party at the booth levels.

PCC president briefed the PRO about the details of the membership in different parts right from booth level as the result the primary membership and active membership entered third phase of delegates of the party at various levels. It was disclosed that a very encouraging response was received for the party membership in the state. “It is because of the failure of the BJP in Jammu province and PDP in Kashmir province to deliver and fulfill their commitments especially betrayal of the mandate of the people,” it was stated.

PRO Hussain Dalwai(MP) expressed great satisfaction over the successful membership drive and greeted PCC president G A Mir and other leaders for their dedication and hard work. The PRO also praised Mir for his great organizational skills.

He informed the meeting that Congress party in first phase was going to hold organizational elections at booth level, in second phase block level and then district level and in the fourth phase the elections of PCC president would be held.

“The whole process will be completed in next three months as per schedule issued by Central Election Authority,” he said.

Senior vice president Sham Lal Sharma, vice presidents Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnesh Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Namrata Sharma, Faqir Nath, Th. Shiv Dev Singh, G.L. Chalotra, Krishan Chander Bhagat, Ashok Dogra, Vinod Khajuria, S S Shingari, district presidents Anil Chopra, Hari Singh Chib, Sain Abdul Rashid, Ashok Gupta, Arun Singh Raju attended the meeting.
