Azad slams Centre’s stubborn attitude about talks in J&K
Kashmir Times. Dated: 4/30/2017 1:13:13 PM
NEW DELHI, Apr 29 (Agencies): While welcoming the observation of the Supreme Court that the government should hold talks to resolve the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the Centre was adopting a ‘stubborn’ attitude towards talks.
Talking to reporters here, Azad said, “The government is adopting a stubborn attitude with regard to dialogue. It wants to muzzle the voice of the people by saying no to talks.” Azad’s comments came in response to the Centre telling the Supreme Court that there would not be any talks with separatists or those raising slogans of Azadi in Jammu and Kashmir.
Azad also attacked the BJP over the “leak” of Dhingra Commission report, accusing it of practising political vendetta of the “worst order.”
Senior Congress spokesperson wondered why the BJP government was stooping “so low to harass” Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra over his Haryana land deals.
He claimed the Congress never indulged in vendetta against the BJP or its supporters when in power. “Whatever Commission it may be, those commissions and inquiries are the political vendetta of the worst order,” he said.
