Malik warns Advani for playing with fire

SRINAGAR, July 10: A day after BJP leader L.K Advani threatened agitation on Kashmir, JKLF chairman Yasin Malik today said the former’s statement would not change reality of Kashmir dispute.
“Kashmir dispute is a reality and Advani’s statement will not change this. Without solving Kashmir peace in the region is impossible,” Malik said. He was interacting with Amarnath yatris at Baltal.
Reminding Advani of dialogue process initiated by the then prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, JKLF chairman said, “Advani was holding Home portfolio when Atal Behari Vajpayee started dialogue with Pakistan. I wonder why he is changed today. His thirst to be in power could set whole subcontinent on fire.”
“Today BJP is not in power and it is threatening an agitation against rights of Kashmiris. Advani and BJP forget that it was Vajpayee who went to Lahore to talks about need for resolution of Kashmir dispute.”
He said talks were started by BJP with Pakistan and Kashmiri leadership for resolution of Kashmir issue. “And when they are not in power they talk in different language only to come into power,” Malik said.
BJP leader LK Advani on Monday warned of a fresh agitation if any attempt was made to reverse the integration process of Kashmir with India.
"Today, we want to take this integration process (of Kashmir with India) forward. We want to abolish Article 370. But if today's government, those people sitting in power today, want to reverse this and take this integration process backwards, then probably people of India will have to launch another agitation as had taken place at that time," Advani had said.
Malik urged both India and Pakistan to resolve Kashmir on priority basis and consider Kashmiris as principal party in the dialogue process between India and Pakistan.
JKLF chairman during his interaction with yatris, said that JKLF fight is against Government of India. “But our fight against New Delhi should not be construed as fight against citizens of India. We consider Indians our brothers and we expect once yatris would go back to their original places, they will be highlighting the positive aspects of Kashmir,” he said.
Malik described yatris as guests and brothers of Kashmiris. “You will always find us ready to help you,” he said.
