Power supply hit due to fire in Gladni station

JAMMU, Apr 16: Panic struck Gladni Power Station, Narwal when a CT Box carrying inflammable oil exploded and the oil spread in the area where electric wires were stored, this evening. Fire broke in the Power Station

The Power supply though remain affected in most parts of Jammu region since early morning hours due to necessary repairs by Power Development Department (PDD) but due to technical snag and explosion of CT Box at Gladni Power Station, the power supply was worst affected.

As per PDD sources, a technical snag developed at Gladni Power Station last evening. The said fault was repaired but this evening at around 8 PM, a CT Box carrying oil exploded and the oil spread in the area where electric wires were stored, in the Power Station.

Due to explosion of CT Box, the oil caught fire and it spread in the Power Station area. However, the PDD employees on duty escaped unhurt. Panic struck in the area due to explosion of CT Box followed by fire in the Power Station.

The authorities informed Fire & Emergency Service department and three fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The fire tenders brought the fire under control and averted a major tragedy.

The power supply was further affected in most parts of Jammu due to explosion of CT Box. The restoration work was in progress when reports last came in.
