SRINAGAR, Apr 13: PCC chief G A Mir has accused the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her coalition government of having totally failed to create a conducive atmosphere for the by-elections in Srinagar parliamentary constituency.
Talking to media, Mir said, “Electronic voting machines were placed in bunker vehicles but not in polling stations only to create a fearful atmosphere on the day of polling in Srinagar parliamentary constituency and today when re-poll was conducted in 38 polling stations in Budgam district.”
He said unfortunately the government put on job its whole law enforcement machinery for the conduct of re-poll but the turnout showed the failure of the government and it was yet another blow to Mehbooba government.
Alleging that the heavy deployments were out at the command and control of the police officers of the rank of SSPs in each and every village, Mir said, “Let the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti explain why her claim of having the support of 95 per cent of population and putting the percentage of trouble shooters at five per cent is proving wrong. The outcome shows that 95 per cent of the people have turned against the government and five per cent who have voted at polling stations also didn’t vote for the reasons of sympathy with PDP led coalition government. The situation demands that the Chief Minister should accept moral responsibility for losing the public support and quit as Chief Minister immediately.”
