Inadequate research in Institutions

Dear Editor,
Gone are the days when the likes of Madam Curie, Ramanujam, Sir J.C. Bose were neck deep in revealing the secrets of the Universe in the form of minerals, numbers or the natural world. That this was done without any State patronage speaks volumes about the kind of pains they took for the sake of the rest of the humanity.
Today, original research work is lacking in the labs all over the country preceded by an overall lack of interest in the field of science, with not many scientists and researchers coming forward. While the country has broken records in providing quality education wherever possible, it goes without saying that the science is a field where the government has shown a lackadaisical approach. As a result, pure research has suffered and has not grown the way it should be compared to other nations of the world.
