Weather conditions improve, people throng Sunday market

SRINAGAR, Mar 26: While the sun shone brighter across valley on Sunday, the Sunday market remained abuzz with shoppers who thronged the market in large numbers on a pleasant sunny day.
Since early morning the street market across the business hub Lal Chowk witnessed huge rush of people who were seen buying different commodities from the large number of stalls erected by the vendors selling different stuff.
With the onset of the spring season while the weather in valley witnessed an improvement with an abrupt increase in temperature, people across the markets could be seen shopping.
Through out the day, the stretch from TRC up to Jehangir Chowk remained crowded with people swarming to buy different items from the street vendors.
Street vendors in large had erected makeshift selling clothes, household items, blankets, woollen, kitchenware, shoes and several other household items.
The street vendors had erected the stalls selling all the necessary winter items while many revealed they were doing brisk sales with the improvement in the weather conditions.
“The rush in the market is due to good weather today. Weather has improved so that increased the rush of shoppers. I can say today people from all parts of valley have visited the Sunday market to buy the essential commodities," Ijaz Ahmad a vendor said.
“Since the winter season is over people are buying quilts and blankets at much cheaper rates. These items are selling like anything," a vendor said.
The vendors revealed the increase in the rush was owing to the improved weather.
“There is a lot of demand for clothes and kitchenware these days. Moreover there is discount on winter stuff which is why markets are witnessing a huge rush,” vendors revealed.
With the onset of the spring in Kashmir valley the mercury has gone up.
While the met department has predicted further rise in temperature, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius on Sunday.
