Transporters threatens to go on strike from Mar 29

JAMMU, Mar 25: All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare association , Jammu urged the state government to concede its demands otherwise they will have no option to observe complete strike from March 29 ,2017 onwards till their demands has not been met by the government.
Addressing media here, STS Wazir Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir Transport Welfare Association ,Jammu (AJKTWA) stated that on January 23 ,2017 when they had called a 72 hours strike in respect of their demands , the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has convened a meeting with them in which she assured them that their demands would have been solved with in days but all goes in vain and nothing has been done so far till date.
He further stated that the transporters has been suffering from step hikes in petroleum products ,flood ,unrest in valley disturbances on LoC, hikes in fees,taxes, penalty by the Central Government militancy due to which they are unable to ply their vehicles.
He said that even IRDA (Indian Regulatory Development Authority) will be going to increase the 3rd Party Insurance Premium up to 50 percent where as on the other hand the State Government is also going to shift the record of Passenger Tax in the RTO office that will be come into effect from April 1, 2017. . That is why they had presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister in which they have written some of their genuine demands seeking some positive response in their favour so that they can ply their vehicles on the road.
He confirmed that they would observe complete strike (Chakka - Jam) from March 29 till their demands will not be conceded by the state government. In the mean while no commercial vehicle will ply on the road and it is the responsibility of the state government to took preventive measures for the general public from the inconvenience.
