NC hails ECI decision on staying VCs’ appointments

SRINAGAR Mar 24: National Conference (NC) today welcomed the decision of Election Commission putting in abeyance the appointment of vice chairpersons for various corporations and Public Sector Undertakings by the PDP-BJP Government after the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in run up to by-polls for Srinagar and Anantnag parliamentary constituencies.
“We hope the coalition government will take the message of ECI loud and clear and desist from violating the MCI or misusing official machinery”, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani said in a statement issued from the party headquarters here this afternoon.
National Conference had lodged strong protest to the Election Commission, soon after the State Government appointed 16 functionaries of the ruling alliance PDP and BJP as Vice Chairpersons of various Corporations and PSUs on 10 March 2017.
