St. Mary's School holds annual Sports meet

JAMMU, Mar 22: The spirit of convivial competition came alive when St. Mary's Infant Convent School (formerly St. Mary's Infant Pre School) hosted its first Annual Sports Meet wherein young and rollicking champions of the school were exposed to a plethora of physical recreational activities that splattered a riot of sporting hues on their learning canvas and inculcated valuable lessons of sportsmanship in the infants.
The lighting of the ceremonial torch by the gracious hands of Anna Mary, Chairperson of the school, marked the inauguration of the sports meet which was followed by the torchbearer run around the field by the head boy of the school, Adrian Raj Anthony, giving a shot in the arm to the prefects to confidently lead their comrades in a well synchronized march-past exhibiting a perfect blend of colour, rhythm, endurance, agility and self-discipline.
During the fun-filled day, students of pre-nursery, nursery, LKG and UKG participated with full verve and vigour in an array of riveting races such as sack race, obstacle race, three legged race, rabbit hopping race, tricycle race, beading race, skipping race, banana eating race, lemon and spoon race, burst the balloon race and many more races especially designed for the small ones to give a vent to their creativity and physical agility.
Cavorting students also laid out an impressive display of various exercises and karate skills. In her presidential address, Anna Mary lauded the budding athletes for trying their hand at different sports and for putting up a magnificent show. Thereupon, she gave away medals and trophies to the sports event winners.
