‘Omar was their minister’

SRINAGAR, Mar 19: Stating that National Conference (NC) cannot mislead the people at election time by describing BJP and RSS as anti Muslim, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), today said NC in past was part and parcel of Sangh Parivar and Omar Abdullah was groomed in their lap when he became a minister at centre during their rule.
In a statement, Geelani said NC is presently raising the anti-Muslim approach of BJP and RSS in a big way and trying to warn the people against their “dangerous plans”. “But in past NC was in government with BJP and Omar Abdullah their minister. NC has got exposed before the people because of its misdeeds and sell outs from time to time since 1947. Their only aim is power, which they want to get by hook or crook,” Hurriyat (G) chairman said.
He added that now Dr Farooq Abdullah for his petty political interests is trying to show sympathy with militants and Hurriyat and trying to give a desperate impression that he is with them.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman also criticized PDP for its role of deceit since past. “The same party claimed fighting for the aspirations of Kashmiris, joined hands with BJP for power,” he said.
Geelani said the separatist leadership is not giving election boycott call for any particular party or person. “For us, PDP, National Conference, Congress, Peoples Conference, Awami Itihaad Party and all other pro-India parties are same. There is no difference among them. NC is trying to play the same card, which PDP was playing in past. Both the parties are doing politics for power,” he added.
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said these parties are raising slogans of autonomy, self rule and some times freedom. “I appeal to the people to show wisdom and political maturity. After burying right to self-determination in 1975, NC was deceiving the people with green handkerchief and Pakistani salt and enjoying power. Later PDP used pen and inkpot on its green party flag to introduce itself and gained power,” he added.
Appealing the people to boycott the elections, Geelani said mainstream parties seek vote on good governance, electricity and water, but India uses these elections at international forum for its own interests and to mislead the world.
