Pak violates ceasefire in Mendhar

MENDHAR, Mar 19: Pakistani troops Sunday morning violated the ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked firing targeting Indian forward posts in Bhimbher Gali and Balakote sectors.
According to official sources, the firing from Pakistan side targeting Indian forward posts in forward Balakote, forward Panjani, forward Suahala and forward Dabsi areas started at around 6.15 AM. Heavy firing continued till 6.45 AM.
“Pakistan troops used Heavy Machine Guns (HMGs) and Light Machine Guns (LMGs) to target Indian forward posts in these sectors. Indian side, however, however did not retaliate,” sources said.
This was the fifth ceasefire violation along the LoC in Poonch-Rajouri belt in the past 11 days.
On March 13, truce was breached by Pakistan army in Poonch sector while on March 12, Indian and Pak troops traded fire in Krishnagati sector in the border district.
On March 9, an army jawan was killed when Pakistani initiated indiscriminate and unprovoked firing on Indian army posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector.
