Shah-E-Hamdan Cricket tourney organises by Army

PULWAMA, Mar 19: Shah-E-Hamdan Cricket Tournament - IV organized by the Army for the youth of Tral and Awantipura at Tsaraligund Cricket Ground concluded on Saturday with an exhilarating display of cricket in the finals witnessed by an equally encouraging crowd that turned up in large numbers throughout the tourney.

Around 32 teams had participated in the tournament which had commenced in November 16 but finals could only be played now due to the weather constraints.

The keenly contested final between Friends XI Padgampora and Cricket Club Awanpora was won by the former by three wickets. Besides winning the coveted trophy, Friends XI also bagged the individual top honours with Sartaj Ahmed and Mohammed Wazir getting adjudged as the Man of the Match and Player of the Series respectively.

The Chief Guest, SSP Awantipura gave away the prizes in the closing ceremony of the tournament that included The Champions Trophy and a cash award of Rs 25000 to the winning team and a cash award of Rs 10000 to the runners up. Apart from this, many more cash rewards, medals and trophies were presented to the outstanding players and officials.

Shah-E-Hamdan Cricket tournament has been enthusiastically embraced by the youth which has provided them with a platform to showcase their talent and further hone their skills besides strengthening the bond between the people and their Army.
