Shutdown continues in Tral for 3rd day

SRINAGAR, Mar 7: For the third consecutive day today, shutdown was observed in several areas of Tral against the killing of two militants.
Shops and business establishments remained closed in Tral and its adjoining areas. A complete shutdown was also observed at Hayena area, the native village of militant commander.
People today went to the residence of militants and expressed their sympathy with them.
Transport was off the roads in the internal areas of Tral. The local administration had deployed large number of police and CRPF in Tral town and its adjoining areas to prevent people from holding protest demonstrations.
The police and CRPF had made number of mobile bunkers where the private vehicles were checked and pedestrians frisked throughout the day.
Meanwhile, clashes again erupted between youths and police at Mohamadpora village of Kulgam after forces were laying a siege.
Police lobbed several teargas shells to disperse the protesters who had gathered in Mohamadpora village to disrupt an anti-militant operation started by Rashtriya Rifles, SoG and CRPF after receiving information about presence of militants.
Several youths including women got injured in these clashes.
Reports said that when forces laid a cordon in Mohamadpora village of Kulgam this afternoon, the youths of the village took to streets and pelted stones on forces to disturb their operation and help the militants to break the cordon.
The police fired smoke shells to disperse the protesters. However, the youths showed stiff resistance and pelted stones on forces.
Meanwhile, cordon and search operation has also been launched in Laktipora village of Bijbehara.
