Explosives recovered near Kishtwar

BHADERWAH, Feb 24: Much to the security forces concern, some unidentified persons, believed to be the sympathizers of the militants left some explosive material behind at Malipath area of Kishtwar town sending an Alarm bell signals to the security forces in the communally sensitive Kishtwar district.
As per the details, Kishtwar police got information about presence of IED type explosive material kept near the mobile towers situated near Post office at Malipath. As soon as police got information about the presence of explosive material, senior police officials including SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir immediately rushed to the spot and sealed the area.
Police immediately summoned the dog squad as well as bomb disposal squad of the CISF and army to defuse the explosive. The concealing of some explosive inside the black polythene bag added that the explosive material is about half kilogram in weight. Several gelatin sticks weighing around 800 grams wrapped in a polythene bag were recovered from a farm land on the Jammu-Kishtwar highway, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir said.
He said that the bomb disposal squad is looking into the nature of the explosive and said that every precaution are being taken to avoid and collateral damage or injury to those handling the explosive related material. He said that the explosive looks like the old one and said that police is investigating the matter.
He said that the explosive material was lying far away from the mobile towers and said that its quantity is too small and hence ruled out any attempt to blow up the mobile towers. He said process to destroy the explosive on spot is on added that expert’s advice is on to decide whether to destroy it on spot or they will shift it to some safe location.
SSP further said that it is an attempt of some miscreants who wants to terrorize the peace loving citizens of Kishtwar town and its vicinity area. The police and other security agencies were on job when last reports came in.
It is pertinent to mention that Kishtwar town has witnessed such incident after 12 years. Last time militants planted an IED near the office of DySP Operation (now BDO Office Kishtwar) near Kuleed Petrol Pump which was later defused by the alert security forces.
